Privacy Policy

Last updated 22 August 2026 · Applies to EasySweep for macOS, both editions

EasySweep has no account, no analytics and no telemetry. It does not track you, does not profile you, and does not report what it found on your disk to anyone — including us. This page exists to say precisely what it does do, because an app that deletes files should be specific about this rather than reassuring.

What stays on your Mac

Everything EasySweep learns about your disk stays on your disk. Specifically:

What leaves your Mac, and when

EasySweep makes network requests in exactly three situations, none of which happen unless you choose the feature involved.

1. Licence activation and validation — direct download only

If you buy EasySweep Pro directly and enter a licence key, the app contacts Polar, our payment and licensing provider, to activate and later revalidate that key. Each request contains:

That is all. No file paths, no scan results, no personal information the app does not have. The machine identifier is not linked to any advertising or tracking system; its only purpose is identifying this Mac among the ones your licence covers. The limit itself is enforced by Polar’s server, not by the app.

Your licence key is stored in the macOS Keychain, explicitly marked not to sync to iCloud. A key that synced would silently activate every Mac it reached, spending seats you did not choose to spend.

2. In-app purchase — Mac App Store edition only

The App Store edition sells Pro through Apple’s StoreKit. The purchase and its receipt are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details, and the app never contacts a server of ours about it. Apple’s handling of that transaction is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

3. iCloud sync of your Pro configuration

If you use Custom Categories or Automation, the definitions you create — a category’s name, icon, colour and the folder paths you chose, and your automation rules — are synced through Apple’s iCloud key-value store so they follow you between your own Macs. This travels between your devices and Apple’s servers under your own Apple Account. We have no access to it and no server involved.

Folder contents are never synced — only the paths you named and the rules you wrote. If you would rather nothing sync at all, sign out of iCloud Drive for the app, or simply don’t use those features; the free app makes no network requests whatsoever.

The free app makes no network requests at all

Worth stating plainly: if you download EasySweep and never buy Pro, the app does not contact the internet. There is no update ping, no licence check, no analytics beacon and no first-run call home.

What we never collect

There are no third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, attribution or crash reporting in either edition.

Permissions the app asks for

EasySweep asks for access to folders so it can measure and clean them. It asks for nothing else — no contacts, calendar, camera, microphone, location or network permissions beyond the requests described above.

A folder the app cannot read is always reported to you as a failure. It is never silently shown as empty.

Payments

We never see or store your payment details. Direct purchases are processed by Polar, which acts as merchant of record and holds whatever billing information you give it under its own privacy policy. App Store purchases are processed by Apple under Apple’s.

Children

EasySweep is a developer utility and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete. If you want a direct purchase record erased, that request goes to Polar, who holds it; we will help you reach them. To remove everything the app keeps locally, delete the app and its data — Settings includes a control that discards all stored categories, rules and preferences.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what the app sends, the change will be described here with a new date, and the previous behaviour will not be altered retroactively in a version you already have installed.
